An estimated 9,692 men, women and children are homeless in Harris and Fort Bend Counties

School districts with the largest number of homeless students include Houston ISD with 3.904, Cy-Fair ISD with 1,548, and Clear Creek ISD with 776

In 2011, 51.8% of Harris County students were identified as at risk of dropping out.

The proportion of homeless families with children in shelters and transitional housing increased from 11.5% in 2009 to 21% in 2010
